The workshop
ODUDLAB is an architectural concrete workshop. We have worked with the material since 2015, making basins, planters, tables, wall panels and one-off objects — by hand, to order, in our own production in Kyiv.
We have worked with architectural concrete since 2015. Today that means full in-house production: the model, the mould, the pour, the hand finishing and the protective treatment all happen in one workshop in Kyiv.
We chose concrete not as a cheaper substitute for stone but as a material with a character of its own. It holds a complex form, takes pigment into its mass, and stays itself — it imitates neither marble nor timber.
Over these years our hands have made both single pieces for private bathrooms and series of objects for public spaces. Experience in this craft is measured not in years on a page but in the number of moulds made — and mistakes that are no longer repeated.
A single basin for a bathroom interests us as much as a set of objects for a public space. The difference is scale and schedule, not attention: a small order goes through the same stages as a large one, made by the same team.
The best work comes from a brief rather than a catalogue number: a non-standard size, a difficult form, a colour matched to one particular interior. Those projects are why we keep a workshop rather than a warehouse.
Nobody buys a concrete piece in a hurry. It is a decision for years, often part of a renovation or a project prepared over months. So we do not rush you into paying: first we work out the brief, the dimensions and the context of the space, and only then talk about price and lead time.
If a standard model does not fit, we will suggest changing the size, the form or the colour. If concrete is not the best answer in your case, we will say so plainly. An order the client later regrets costs more than an invoice never sent.
Every piece carries a 12-month warranty, and all parcels are insured for their full value.
Everything happens in one workshop in Kyiv: we do not subcontract the work and we do not resell anyone else's pieces. That is precisely why any model can be adapted to a particular space.
Each model gets a mould of its own. The mould is what determines the geometry and the texture of the finished piece.
Pigment goes into the concrete mass itself, so the colour belongs to the material rather than to a coating on its surface.
Reinforcement gives the strength that makes thin walls and large forms possible.
Concrete gains strength gradually. This stage cannot be hurried, and it is usually what sets the lead time.
The surface is worked by hand. It is the longest part of the job, and what separates a workshop piece from a plain casting.
Basins and countertops are sealed with a two-component polyurethane in 3–4 coats. Planters and decorative pieces get a water-repellent treatment.
We check the geometry and the surface, then pack the piece for transport.
Handmade means two pieces of the same model will never be perfectly identical. Fine pores, a barely visible difference in shade and the traces of finishing are the character of the material, not a defect.
We work with architectural concrete — a mix formulated for decorative pieces rather than for structures.
It is worth seeing a colour in person before ordering — a screen conveys it only approximately.
Concrete is worth seeing in person: no screen conveys either the shade or the texture. Our showroom and pickup point are at VDNG in Kyiv.
